Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) is a 12-years living in Detroit when his mother (Taraji Henson) Sherry gets a job in China. Once in China, Dr. House is missing and wants to return to the United States. His mother said that China is home now, and he must learn to embrace his new home. Dr China is beginning to love when he falls for her classmate Mei Ying (Han Wenwen).
Dr. Mei Ying feelings are seen by Cheng (Zhenwei Wang) the bully of the class is to stop it. Dr. Cheng is on the floor with ease using his Kung Fu training. The doctor has no luck with the little he knows karate, and Cheng try the next time you go to the doctor. Dre is badly beaten when Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), the maintenance man, a secret kung fu master, stop the fight. Dr. Han believes that teach him Kung Fu. With this knowledge, the doctor now faces a fight with Cheng to win their respect in a tournament of Kung Fu.
